Immigration

I come from a family of immigrants, my parents and sisters were born in Mexico and migrated about 26 years ago, I was the only one born here in New York. This country has given my family a better life and great things but they've also had to work very hard at it and it wasn't easy for them to become citizens. Before my parents became citizens they were filling with a lawyer that mislead them and they lost so much money because she wasn't filling the papers the right way. They then got a great lawyer that helped them fix the errors the last lawyer did and luckily they weren't deported because of her. But finally two years ago they were able to fix their situation after so long and losing hope so many times. It was also very hard for my sisters when they were trying to get into college with no papers but luckily they were able to fix their situation before my parents did. I am very proud that my family was able to fix their papers and now can go in and out of this country with no problem.

I think that all immigrants that haven't been able to fix their situation shouldn't lose faith because I know it's not easy but it's also not impossible because like my family they went through everything but still were able to get them.

Shopaholic on the loose!

Who doesn't like shopping? I know I LOVE shopping!!! I am a huge shopaholic and always spend all my money on buying things I don't need only things I want. I literally can spend hours online shopping and mostly do it because I'm bored or need something to take my mind off stressful things.

I know it's not something normal and should control my spendings because I have bills to pay and save up for my future. But that never stops me. And even if I don't buy anything while I'm online looking through websites I still out things in my shopping cart and let them sit there until I have money to buy them.

When I first got my credit card I told myself "I'm only going to use it for emergencies and pay it off right away". Ha. Who was I kidding the next thing you know I maxed out my credit card and I've only had if for about a year and a half and still haven't been able to pay it back fully. But I'm still shopping.

There are so many things I'd like to do like travel the world, go away school, move to California some day but with all the shopping I do I'm never going to fulfill my dreams.

So I had to take action and now I'm working 4-5 jobs and saving as much as I can. I've started saving little by little each pay check for the past two months and now I have saved about $400 which I think is great considering I didn't have anything saved a couple months back. Now I feel less stressed about not having money to pay bills. And I feel great having money saved, money in my bank account, paying bills on time and still have money to spend on myself.

And here are some great tips you should follow if you find yourself in a similar situation:

Ladies' Home Journal

The magazine I read was Ladies' Home Journal, I liked that they had a celebrity piece, hair product advice, what swimsuit best fits your body. I disliked that they had too much advertising. But I did enjoy reading the tips on swimsuits, hair products, and bronzers. The article I found interesting was The Vacation Nightmare That Changed My Life. This article was about a woman who was terrified to get on a plane but finally decided to go on vacation to Costa Rica with her family and lost her fear. But during they're vacation there was an incident where her husband had an accident and almost died from tripping during his run. Luckily they were able to rush him to the hospital and treat him quickly. He recovered in no time and they then were able to enjoy their vacation and do plenty of fun activities with their kids. After reading this article it made me what to plan a trip to South America or a tropical island. I also thought it would be interesting to follow travel agencies on twitter and look at flight packages to plan a trip for next year.

Should the drinking age be lowered?

I think the drinking age should changed to 18 for many reasons. One of them being that so many teenagers do drink even though its illegal. Also so many people always say that at 18 you can serve for the military and have the right to vote why can't you buy alcohol and it is very true and it doesn't make sense. There's also so many other countries that their drinking age is lower and they have less underage alcohol related problems so maybe by lowering it, it may help increase underage drinking. And also by lowering it, 18 year olds will be drinking in public places so it will be supervised. If the legal drinking age were to be 18, colleges would be able to regulate alcohol use so students don’t get overly intoxicated. They can be monitored whereas when they are hiding and drinking you can’t really go sniffing their cups or making false accusations. This will also help

So I STRONGLY believe the drinking age should change for good reasons.

I read an article about a 15 year old boy drinking with his father and stepmother and lost consciousness and died 10 days later. I strongly believe that even though he was very young if they lowered the drinking age teenagers and adults will be more responsible and know their drinking limit. I also read another article in USA today about most teen drinking deaths aren't traffic related. It talks about how many parents are aware of the dangers from teenage drinking and driving but aren't as educated about all the dangers that drinking before age 21 can be related to. I think that if they were to lower the drinking age parents will want to be fully educated on the dangers and make sure that their kids are aware that they can drink but to a certain limit.
It has been proven that in Europe where drinking age is lower than 21 there is less accidents than in the US where the age is 21.

Love traveling!!!

Do you love traveling? I do, I would love to travel the world someday. I would love to go to different countries, meet new people, learn different languages, learn about new cultures do it all. Even though I haven't gone to many different countries yet, so far the only one I've been to is Mexico and I love it. For the past three years I've been going two to three times a year and I absolutely enjoy it not only because I get to spend time with my family but I love going to different places in Mexico. So far I've been to Mexico City, Morelia, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa, and Cancun and they have such beautiful places. And my plan is to go to all the beautiful places in Mexico and then go to more countries. My favorite part of traveling is packing I don't know why but I just get so excited to pack. I booked my flight to go to Mexico for New Years last week and I'm already thinking about packing all my stuff. Lol. Some tips I have for packing are make a list of all the stuff you'll need to take with you maybe a month in advance and then go through the list and see what you have and what you'll need and buy all the things little by little. And you'll want to pack an outfit for each day you're staying but also pack a few extra outfits just in case for any type of weather.

I read this article in the New York times that in Spain they had a hotel that would have guest hashtag certain things on twitter to meet new people and get hotel service . For example,  “Twitter concierge” using hashtags like #fillmyfridge; flirt from poolside Bali beds by tweeting numbers printed atop the beds, like “How’s it going #balibed10?”; and sip cocktails while checking their smartphones for a live feed of virtual conversations bubbling up from every corner of the hotel.
